IWC Ingenieur 666A w/ Box, GF Bracelet & Rare Arabic Dial Circa 1960s
Bridging the gap between robust ports watch and classy dress watch this IWC Ingenieur has a lot to offer. Namely rarity; Featuring a gorgeous applied Arabic dial that is so rare you would be hard pressed to find even a picture of another, anywhere. Outside of an old IWC catalogue I have never seen another. Perfeclty balanced non date verson and signed Gay Frères beads of rice bracelet with correct endlinks. Collectors and connoisseurs will also be impressed with the original box made specifically for bracelet models. This watch also looks excellent on a strap making it extremely versatile for all occasions.
But what is an Ingenieur? Well it is IWC's version of a Rolex Milguass, Omega Railmaster or dare I say Patek Antimagnetic. Designed for engineers, scientists and other professionals that worked around heavy magnetic and elerical activity. The 666a is the original model Ingenieur produced by IWC, so one cannot go wrong in choosing this reference for their collection.
Stainless steel 36.5mm case that wears larger on the wrist than the dimensions would suggest. Very robust feeling screw back case with oringal iron antimagnetic cover protecting the movment. Correct unsigned crown which was used in the early examples of the 666. Tight first series IWC signed Gay Frères bracelet with full links and correct end links.
Beautiful and rare Arabic dial made of iron to further protect the movement from magnetic feilds. The dial is what makes this watch speical as the 666a itself is not an uncommon reference but typically found with a rather standard dial configuration.
The in-house caliber 852 which was found in the early 666 models. The 852 is a 21 jewel automatic movement with lovely finishing.
