Heuer Self-Winding Triple Date Calendar 'Waterproof' 1950's
Extremely rare Heuer triple date calendar wrist watch dating to the 1950's. Featuring a 34mm solid stainless steel "waterproof" and "shockproof" case, which appears to be unpolished with well defined chamfers. The luminous dial is original and untouched with lovely warm patina througout. The original blued hands show some missing luminous material in the minute hand. The self-winding "bumper" 17 jewel movement signed 'Ed Heuer & Co" recently underwent an extensive overhaul and is running well with all the calendar settings working as they should.
Hours of research shows that this particular reference is quite rare. While many Heuer triple dates can be seen, they are most often found with non waterproof and plated cases. This example with its robust solid stainless steel with chunky screwdown caseback is difficult to even find another picture of outside of old Heuer calalog photos. The originality and unique charming look make this a great watch for both Heuer collectors and vintage watch enthusiasts a like.
